How would you send a "message in a bottle" to the universe? What would you say to an alien being who might one day find it?
In 1977 two spacecraft launched into space to explore our outer solar system. Voyager 1 has already left our solar system and is the farthest human-made object ever made. Both Voyager probes carry on them a golden record, a big "hello!" from all of us on Earth, just in case someone finds them one day. The golden record has on its outside engraved instructions for how to operate the record, and the record itself contains sights and sounds from our planet, music, and greetings in 55 different languages.
Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan chose these representative photos and audio recordings, and their son spoke the iconic "Hello from the children of planet earth" message. As Carl Sagan said, "The spacecraft will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced space-faring civilizations in interstellar space. But the launching of this 'bottle' into the cosmic 'ocean' says something very hopeful about life on this planet."
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of this remarkable mission with this full size (12 inch, ~30 cm diameter) replica of the Voyager Golden Record.
Record comes in a 100% recycled cardboard LP record slip.

This replica looks so cool! It feels like I own the real thing! I don’t even see a scratch on it really. The person who made this obviously takes a lot of pride in the work they do.
